here[Huh..
No really huh???]That....in fact makes absolutely
no sense whatsoever but...if you wish???
[That was so much information all at once, some of which she was choosing to ignore, that Lace wasn't even quite sure if she meant what she just said.]Are they just down there?

Your dreams ought to have warned you away. [She nuzzles between her horns again.]
But it's too late for that.

[ The gentlest headbutt, pushing up back into Lace. So cuddly. ]
no subject
Ha! Well I suppose you are right. I was charmed by you from the start.
[She falls back and takes Hornet down with her.]
Spitfire that you were.

My father's mate told me once that of the constellations formed by the stars, one is in the shape of a great stag beetle. I have never been able to find it. There are times I believe she was lying. I know not why monarchs tell such lies so.
no subject
That would be an odd lie to make, what would she gain form it?
[Her gaze then goes around them. She can't see much beyond this odd ruined...encampment?? They seemed to have found themselves in, but she imagines that it is just as vast as the sky.]
...I know not either. I suppose if one gets accustomed to lying to maintain control, it just becomes natural for some.

[ Just as she's searching the sky for the stag beetle again, Hornet hears a noise behind them, a little scuttering chittering noise. When she looks behind them it's a small insect -- maybe about the size of a larval Muckroach -- in a pack of six.
The leader looks at Hornet first, but it seems to not be a fan of the bright red of her cloak and instead tips its head at Lace. Hungry.
Hornet snarled. ]
Away.
no subject
My, my. I'd hardly be filling, especially for six of you. Shoo now.
no subject
And then the others of its pack start feasting on the corpse. ]
Ah.
[ Hornet retracted. This says a lot about bug society, or whatever. ]
Usually it is far more violent up here on the surface. Thankfully it is a quiet night. Only I am allowed to eat you.

Lace had been able to observe a lot more bugs eating both within and outside of Belhart ever since she started living outside the Cradle.
She had come to the conclusion it was one thing she definitely did not envy about having a real body. It seemed such a pain to have to constantly mind, not to mention everything else involved with digestion and that it drove creatures to this?.
Despite her revulsion there was still some morbid curiosity that had her watch for a bit more before Hornet spoke. She looked at her with and impish smile.]
Well. Being eaten was one of the few ways I'd rather not die by, but if it was by you I suppose it would not be so bad.
[Lace don't make it fucking weird]

She liked organs and big chunks of meat and her venom dissolved flesh into barely recognizable liquid masses, but at least she still had the grace to not subject others to her vile spider biology. This was just tasteless, how they bore themselves on full display.
Lace's comment makes her smirk, though. ]
I was referring to cunnilingus. Though, I suppose I did consume small parts of you when I tore your silk apart.

Lace looks mildly embarrassed by her ignorance and sits up, patting herself off.]
Let's...find somewhere else to be.
[Somewhere not near feasting cannibalistic bugs.]

Scuttlescuttlescuttle.
She whipped around. The little bug was staring at her, just one of them, strayed from its pack. Not desiring to needlessly kill anything, she let out a nasty, spitting hiss, the kind of sound so evil most would not imagine it could come from a pretty face like Hornet.
It shivered back into the sand and seemingly left them. Hornet continued to walk with Lace.
Then it was back.
Scuttlescuttlescuttle.
When Hornet looked behind her, the little bug tipped its head at her. It did not seem hungry. ]
Lace. It is following us.

Glad that it was dealt with easily, Lace continued walking, now observing more of their surroundings. She can see what looks like....a torn tent? Up ahead. She's about to point it out when that noise returns and she spins around to face the little creature.
She stares at it, confounded.]
It is either very brave or very stupid. [She's leaning towards the latter. Extremely leaning towards the latter.
After thinking for a moment she kneels down and holds out a hand for its inspection.]
Or perhaps after that display you know not to trust them?
no subject
It was looking at the two of them almost expectantly, but Hornet did not know what for.
Strange. Wild bugs did not typically act like this unless they were familiar with the more intelligent. ]
To not fear a presence like ours, it must have encountered such before.
no subject
Hmm.
[If it wanted food it probably would have stuck with the others, no? Not that she has any to give, even if it did want some.]
Ha! Were you someone's pet? I am afraid we can do nothing to help you find them. [She joked. More seriously, however, perhaps water? Most real bugs got all they needed from their food, right? She thinks? She's not sure.]
Do you have anything on your person it might be smelling?

[ And just in case she had packed salted meat or something of the sort and forgotten, Hornet double checked her bag. Nothing.
An idea struck her. Perhaps she did have something and the little beast could sniff it out. She knelt and held her bag open for it--
--and it scuttled inside and curled up, looking very comfortable.
Hornet sighed.
It reminded her of Zaza. She didn't have the heart to shoo it away. ]
.........
no subject
Well, look at that. You went and got yourself a pet.
[She straightened up and peeked in the bag.]
...yes. They are cute, despite their manners. [Will this particular one, anyway.]
no subject
[ Yes. It was a fine little animal. As long as it behaved itself. Still peering into her bag, Hornet sighed once more. ]
Behave yourself, little one, lest we have a repeat of your brethren. Lace is to remain untasted at all times.
no subject
Shall we head back to Belhart then? [Probably wouldn't be good to keep it bagged up for longer than they needed.]

[ Hornet would agree...if it didn't seem like the little fella wanted to come. Maybe it's a lazy lapbug. They can walk it, anyways. ]
